What are the dates of the January 2010 F-1 status orientations?

  •  Undergraduate freshman will be on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Connections Miniversity
  • Undergraduate transfer will be on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
  • Graduate will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 12 and 13, 2010, commencing at 7:30 a.m. on January 12th

Is orientation attendance mandatory?

When and where do I pay the tuition bill?

Tuition is paid as soon as you receive your bill, which is one week after registration. Tuition bills must be paid at the Bursar's Office or online. Checks are made payable to "NJIT."

What methods of payment are accepted?

Tuition can be paid by check, demand draft, money order, credit card, or cash. NJIT accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards.

Can I pay tuition in two installments?

Yes, by arrangement with Ms. Frances Begg in the Bursar's Office. You will pay one half by the due date plus $50.00, and the balance is due 8 weeks later.

How much will tuition be in Spring 2010?

The tuition and fees for January to May 2010 for a required full time course load are approximately $11,001.00 for graduates and $11,741.00 for undergraduates, (the cost of textbooks not included). For those receiving financial support from NJIT, the award will cover tuition only. It is the responsibility of the student to pay the remaining fees. You will be billed within two weeks of registration for classes.

Can I be met at Newark Liberty International Airport?

Yes. There is no charge for the service, which is provided by NJIT graduate students. Please provide the following information by e-mail to international.students@njit.edu:

  • Full Name
  • Student ID
  • Gender
  • Major
  • Country of Origin
  • Flight No. (Of the flight reaching Newark, New Jersey. Sometimes, there is a break in international flights. We need the flight no. of the second leg. For e.g., if you are flying Beijing-Paris-Newark, we need the flight no. for Paris-Newark leg)
  • Date and Time of Arrival

You will be brought to NJIT, or either the Robert Treat Hotel, Newark or the YMWCA, Newark. We cannot take you to other destinations.

Please note that this is a service staffed by student volunteers.

If you want to cancel a pick up request, 24-hour notice is required.  Failure to provide this notice may result in a $25 fee.

If I need temporary accommodations before orientation, where can I stay?

We can arrange accommodation at the Robert Treat Hotel, Newark, one half mile from NJIT. To reserve accommodation, please e-mail reslife@njit.edu.

If I cannot attend the mandatory January 2010 orientation due to a late flight from my country or a visa problem, can I still attend NJIT in January 2010?

Yes. However, please be aware that a late arrival can often create initial challenges for you. For example, you may still be searching for accommodations when classes start, or you may not get all the classes you want as some classes may already be filled. You will be asked to attend an orientation upon arrival.
